On June 6, 2018, Colombia issued the Industrial Chemicals Management Bill, which was a revised version of the public consultation draft published last February.
The draft has a total of 28 chapters, through the management of chemicals registration, risk assessment and risk management, to achieve environmental protection and human health. The draft stipulates that risk assessment and risk management procedures need to be in place two years after registration is initiated and operational. Manufacturers and importers of cancer-causing mutagenic substances, substances with short-term risks to the environment, and persistent or bioaccumulative substances will be prepared to reduce. Or management plan. The draft also stipulates the obligations of importers and manufacturers, sales and distributors, transport personnel and users.
The appendices to the regulations detail the hazard categories required for substance registration. The effective date of the regulations will be published in the official gazette.
