Talking about the microbial hazard of waterborne metalworking fluid


First, the characteristics of water-based metalworking fluid 

1. Alkaline pH: 8-9.5 Although it is not the most suitable pH for microorganisms, mass reproduction is not affected. 

2. temperature: its low temperature is enough to support the growth and reproduction of microorganisms, not high enough to inhibit microbial growth

3. usually contains higher water

4. the component contains sufficient nutrition

5. recycling, while bringing in oxygen is conducive to microbial reproduction

6. the flow rate is not enough to resist the formation of biofilm

7. carrying waste, self-contamination


Second, common microorganisms in aqueous metalworking fluid

bacterial:

Anaerobic bacteria (commonly known as sulfuric acid reducing bacteria, producing hydrogen sulfide, etc.)

Aerobic bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, etc. 

Fungus 

Mold: Aspergillus, Penicillium, Rhizopus oryzae, Cephalosporium, etc. 

Yeast: red yeast, brewer's yeast, candida, etc.

 

Third, the three major hazards of microorganisms on metalworking fluids

Metalworking fluids, especially water-based metalworking fluids and emulsions, are fertile breeding grounds for microbial growth

(1) In the course of use, if they are allowed to grow and reproduce without limitation, it will cause the processing fluid to spoil and deteriorate, and reduce the performance of the metalworking fluid 

(2) Corrupted processing fluid will damage the processing machine, block the processing fluid processing system, damage the machining tool and machine the workpiece;

(3) The growth and reproduction of microorganisms can cause malodors and corresponding compounds that affect the environment of the factory, stimulate the skin of the operator and cause allergic reactions, and endanger the health of workers.
